I really enjoy a good salad, especially a large dinner salad. I also enjoy grilling, fruit, bacon and good cheese. Tonight I decided to put them all together in an experiment of sorts.
Grilling fruit has always produced a great sweet/smoky taste that I love. When we got a cantaloupe from our CSA I decided to try grilling it. But I didn’t want to just grill it, I wanted to add some taste to it. I made a honey butter glaze with some fresh chopped mint and soaked the cantaloupe in it.
After grilling the cantaloupe for a few minutes on each side, I laid it on a bed of arugula, chopped bacon and fresh Gorgonzola. A very different taste, but it was really, really good. And, it was juicy enough that no dressing was needed.
